If your chapter plans to run for one of our regional officer positions please send Regional Coordinator Frank Malinowski an email stating your intention as soon as possible. Positions available are listed with their main responsibilities. Please note that each office will have additional responsibilities.
• President, hosts the spring 2014 regional convention
• Vice President, hosts the fall 2013 regional conference
• Secretary, updates the website and Facebook page
• Chapter Relations, responsible for building and improving working relationships between chapters

Rooms are still available at the Holiday Inn Express. $75 per night includes continental breakfast. Need to register by February 28 and ask specifically for Phi Theta Kappa rooms. Call 478-454-9000 to make your reservation.

Georgia Military College in Milledgeville is excited to be hosting the Georgia Region for this year’s Spring Regional conference. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow Phi Theta Kappans, learn more about the excellent programs available to members, and enjoy some fellowship.

Darton State College’s Chi Xi Chapter Welcomes New Inductees

Darton State College congratulates its new inductees into the Chi Xi chapter. With over 150 guests and inductees in attendance, Chi Xi advisors Frank Malinowski and Nicole Jones were delighted to welcome the newest members of the chapter into the fellowship of Phi Theta Kappa, celebrating the students’ dedication to scholarship, leadership, and service.

Scholarship Opportunity with Emerson College

Georgia Region,

Interested in transferring to a four year institution in Boston? Emerson College offers you the opportunity to fill out a Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship application if you are a Phi Theta Kappa member who has earned an Associate’s Degree, and has a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 from an accredited community college.

To apply, submit your Common Application by the March 15th deadline, and your Phi Theta Kappa scholarship application by April 2. If you meet both of these deadlines, you will have an admission and scholarship decision by May 15th.

2013 Theta Lambda Members

Theta Lambda Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa celebrates its 60th anniversary on the Andrew College campus this May. At the Spring Semester 2013 Induction Ceremony, Advisor Karan Pittman spoke to the students on the ideals of Phi Theta Kappa – Wisdom, Aspiration, Purity.

Officers and students have been busy in 2012-2013. In the Fall Semester, the Theta Lambda students distributed pink ribbons for Breast Cancer Awareness, painted children’s faces at the Randolph Crossroads Festival and sponsored the Great American Smokeout on the campus. The year ended with an Old Main Birthday Party in November in conjunction with “Dancing with the Faculty”.

Projects for Spring Semester 2013 include a Don’t Text and Drive Campaign, Seminar Day, Community College Completion and the Life Raft Debate. In April, the chapter will raise money for alum Neida Soto, who plans to bicycle across the country, stopping to build homes, with “Bike And Build”.

Theta Lambda members continue to take on new challenges and to initiate new ideas on the Andrew College campus

Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honorary society for two year colleges in the nation with over two million members. Approximately 1200 chapters have been chartered within the United States and United States territories. Over 100,000 members are inducted annually.

Scholarship Information: Ty Cobb

Georgia Region, here’s some information on the Ty Cobb Scholarship:

The Ty Cobb Educational Foundation annually awards scholarships to qualified Georgia residents. Applicants must have demonstrated financial need and have completed at least 30 semester hours of academic credit with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Students with higher academic averages and the greatest need will be given priority.
